Ergonomic Chair Melbourne

What Is an Ergonomic Chair?

An ergonomic chair is simply a chair that offers a full range of adjustments. That includes: seat height and angle or tilt adjustment, and back height and angle adjustment. Also, some chairs have adjustable arms as well.

Why Is Ergonomics Important?

Increased use of computers is the notable reason for today's desk-bound workplace. Many office employees are spending more than eight hours per day in a chair. Sitting in an uncomfortable chair without ability to adjust it to individual needs could cause strain and even serious injury to shoulder, back, and neck.

How To Sit Ergonomically

To support the natural curve of your lower back and prevent slumping and back pain, sit with your back arched against the chair.

Your knees should be a comfortable distance apart with feet firmly planted on the floor. If your feet dangle, it could impede blood flow. A chair should support your thighs but prevent the backs of your knees from touching the seat.

Make sure your legs rest at a right angle to your body, perpendicular to the floor, with your thighs resting against the cushion.

It's also important that your eyes remain focused on the center of your computer screen while seated to avoid eye strain and neck pain.
